113 One of the Cool Kids

Jordan's family moved from a small town in the Midwest to a big city in California.  Jordan transferred to a new high school.  She was really nervous about her new school because she afraid of being considered an uncool "country bumpkin" or outsider.

Fortunately, Jordan was able to get accepted into the "cool" group at school.  She quickly made a lot of new friends and was invited to many social events, which made her very happy initially.

However, Jordan saw that her values were very different from her newfound "cool" friends.  Quite a few girls in her group were sexually promiscuous and almost all of them smoked and drank alchohol, even though pretty much everyone was under 18.  Worst of all, Jordan witnessed firsthand how cruel and malicious her "cool" friends were to girls and guys outside their group.

After one incident where Jordan's friends made snide remarks about a girl's appearance which led her to try to commit suicide, Jordan had enough.  It just wasn't worth it to be "cool" anymore for Jordan.  She decide she was going to leave the group at the risk of being "uncool."  The price was just too high for Jordan to be one of the cool kids.

Whether you realize it or not, the friends you choose will have a profound effect on your life and the way you live.  Be careful and choose good associations who will draw you closer to God!
