125 Highwire Act of Faith

A tightrope artist was skillfully performing in front of a large crowd.  He asked the audience, "Do you think I can make it across the tightrope without my pole?"  The audienced applauded loudly and encouraged the artist.  The tightrope artist responded by tossing aside his pole and deftly crossing the tightrope, which led to even greater applause.

When the tightrope artist made it to the other side, he asked the audience, "Do you think I can make it across the tightrope pushing a wheelbarrow?"  The audience clapped even louder than before and various audience members shouted back, "You can do it!"  The tightrope artist then had a wheelbarrow lifted up to him and he amazingly carted the wheelbarrow across the tightrope.

The audience gave the tightrope artist a thunderous standing ovation.  The tightrope artist bowed humbly and asked the audience, "Do  you think I can take a person in the wheelbarrow across the tightrope?"  The audience clapped wildly and people were whistling for the tightrope artist to do it.

The tightrope audience held his hand up to silence the crowd.  "Who is willing to volunteer to sit in my wheelbarrow?"  The audience suddenly went dead silent.

Faith is meaningless without action.  While it is true we cannot achieve salvation by our actions no matter how pious (salvation is through Jesus Christ alone), our faith is dead if we do not act upon our faith!
