127 MVP
Aiden Armstrong had a breakout season in the NFL as a quarterback in his rookie season. He led his team to a Superbowl championship and was unanimously voted the most valuable player in the league. Aiden was basking in the glory of his achievements and reveling in all the accolades. People everywhere were proclaiming Aiden as one of the greatest players ever at his position. Aiden was getting cocky and was starting to believe in all the hype until he started reviewing game footage during the offseason.
Aiden noticed that the reason he was able to make all those great throws in the past season was that he was able to stay in the pocket for a long time. Aiden saw for the first time how much his offensive line protected from getting sacked by the opposing defense, sacrificing their bodies to give Aiden the time to make the winning throws. The more footage Aiden saw, the more realized it was his unheralded offensive line who had the breakout season. If Aiden were on another team, he would never had this level of pass protection.
Aiden felt rather humbled after watching the game footage. He felt embarrassed that he was taking all the championship credit when it rightly belonged to his teammates. the offensive line was the MVP, not him! Aiden called up everyone player from his offensive line and invited them to meet with him for dinner at a local steakhouse. Aiden treated his offensive line to dinner much to their surprise and delight. Aiden thanked everyone of them for their contribution to his individual success. The restaurant bill at the end of the night was $3000, but Aiden smiled as he paid it. Surely, it was a small affordable price to pay to have a breakout season.
We need to remember to not to be too prideful in our accomplishments. All our success is due to God's grace and mercy. Give honor and praise to the real MVP in your life!
