133 For Midgard
The emperor of Midgard stared outside the castle walls, seeing only flames and the advancing rebel army. The emperor knew the end of his rule and possibly even his life was at hand. How could this be happening, the emperor thought to himself.
It was only over a year ago when the rebellion started. The emperor had cruelly oppressed the people of Midgard, taxing them heavily and taking away their freedoms. A commoner started the rebellion, leading a small uprising in the name of freedom and justice. The emperor had the uprising put down swiftly. The rebellion leader was captured and executed in public in front of all the people. Just before the rebel leader was put to death, he cried out the words, "For Midgard!" These words have been ringing ever since.
With the death of the rebel leader, the emperor assumed the rebellion would wither away and die. However, the opposite occurred. The rebellion increased in intensity and numbers as others have picked up on the dead rebel leader's cry and continued the rebellion.
For Midgard. How can two simple words have so much power, even after the death of the one who uttered those two words? The emperor wondered in resignation as the castle walls were breached. Freedom for the people was at hand.
A Christian author named Tertullian once wrote that the blood of the martyrs was seed for the church. The Pharisees the death of Jesus would silence His movement and the Jews thought that the death of His disciples would do the same. However, you cannot stop the power of God. Our Lord Jesus Christ has risen and His people to this day still continue sharing the Good News of salvation to all who would listen. Will you listen to the Gospel message and share what you have heard with others?
