174 My Favorite Bible Verse

Catherine was sitting at the bus stop when she struck up a conversation with the woman sitting next to her.  In the course of their conversation, Catherine found out the woman was a Christian like her.

"So, what is your favorite Bible verse?" Catherine asked.  My favorite verse is Matthew 11:29 - 'Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.'"

"Oh, my favorite verse is Joshua 4:1," replied the woman.

Catherine was stumped.  She would like to think she knew her Bible rather well, but she couldn't recall what Joshua 4:1 said.

"Could you remind me what is Joshua 4:1?" asked Catherine.

The woman smiled and took out a small Bible from her purse.  She flipped to Joshua 4:1 and handed the Bible to Catherine to read.

"And it came to pass...," Catherine began reading aloud.  And it came to pass?  Catherine looked at the woman with a puzzled look.

"Why is this your favorite Bible verse?" asked Catherine, a bit perplexed.

The woman explained that she had a rather hard life.  She told Catherine a little bit about her past: her struggles with drug addiction, the abusive relationships she was in, and her financial struggles.  Yet, with the grace of God, she explained, all her problems eventually passed out of her life, and she is still alive today.

Catherine sat silent for a moment then she looked at the woman before she spoke.  "You know what?  That really is a good verse..."

No matter what troubles and difficulties you face in your life, you can be sure that Jesus will always be with you at your side.  Troubles and difficulties will come and go, but the love of God is eternal!
