40 The Hurricane

A massive hurricane was about to hit the Florida coast.  The weather forecasters at the US National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration were alarmed at how quickly and powerfully the hurricane was forming.  It looked to be a category 5 hurricane - the strongest one in over a century.  Fortunately, the hurricane was delayed over the Yucatan for two days.  The governor of Florida declared a state of emergency and warned people to leave the coastal areas.

Most people heeded the governor's warning to evacuate.  The most well-prepared people already had storm shutters installed over the windows in their homes and had straps attatching their roofs to the housing frame structures.  They made sure that the the trees and shrubs around them were well trimmed and that the rainspouts were clear.  They also had a safe room stocked with supplies in case of extreme emergency.

However, Fred did not prepare at all.  Fred dismissed the governor's warning as mere doomsaying and he believed that the hurricane's strength was greatly exaggerated.  Fred did nothing to fortify his home and laughed at the people frantically fleeing the coasts.

When the hurricane finally landed, it hit Florida hard and did hundreds of millions of dollars in damage.  The people who were prepared made it through the hurricane okay with their houses mostly intact.  However, Fred lost everything in the hurricane.  His home was completely destroyed, his car was wrecked by a fallen tree, and his boat was lost.

"Why did this happen to me?" cried out Fred.  "This is completely unfair!  Why, God?  Why did you allow this to happen?"  Fred fell to his knees and sobbed inconsolably.

Jesus is coming soon.  The Bible states that though we do not know the exact time, nevertheless, we need to be prepared for His soon return.  Otherwise, we will be caught by surprise and lose everything like Fred who did not heed the warning signs and paid the price!  How do you prepare for Jesus' Second Coming?  Acknowledge and repent of your sins now and ask Jesus to come into your life.  Believe that He is your personal Savior.  Get baptized.  Pray and study the Bible daily.  Walk a new life in Christ and endure until the end.  The time to prepare is now!
