41 I Can't
Jerry was studying for his upcoming final exams one Thursday night when he heard God calling him.
"Jerry," declared God, "it is time for you to do a great work for Me."
John fell out of his chair in surprise, tossing his notes up into the air. He fell on his knees and looked fearfully towards where he heard God's voice.
"God!" cried out Jerry. "I...I...can't! Please Lord, can You find someone else more qualified than me? I'm just a college student, and a struggling one at that! I barely get by in class, even though I study so hard! I do try to witness to all my friends whenever I get the chance, but I've never had any success! I try to start small group studies and community service activties, but those fail too due to lack of participation! Please God, I just can't!"
"Jerry," God responded, "I can use anyone. Moses was a murderer, David was an adulterer, Rahab was a prostitute, Peter denied My Son three times, John had a bad temper, Paul was a religious zealot, Elijah and Job were suicidal, Jonah tried to run away from Me, and Lazarus was dead!"
What is your excuse now? God has shown time and time again that He can use anyone to accomplish His will. Paul the Apostle once wrote that God's strength is made perfect in our weakness. If we step out in faith, with God's grace, we can accomplish a great work for Him! Will you be able to tell God "yes, I can!" when He calls on you?
