50 My Perfect Match

Lola just joined an online dating service and was just finishing up writing her profile when her friend Michelle came by for a visit.  Lola excitedly gestured Michelle over to her computer.  "Hey Michelle, come read what I wrote for my ideal match!" said Lola enthusiastically.

"Okay, Lola, I'll read it," Michelle replied.  As Michelle read what Lola wrote on the computer, her brow furrowed quizzically.  Lola's ideal match read as follows:

"I am looking for a handsome gentleman with a well-paying job.  He must be kind, loving, masculine yet gentle, fit but not obsessed with exercise.  He must be independent, but willing to let me make the decisions.  He will treat me with respect, laugh at all my jokes even if they are not funny, be able to discuss topics with me in an intellectual manner, but never argue with me.  He should be able to wine and dine me, but also know how to cook.  He must be spontaneous and romantic, mature, and nurturing.  He should want to always doodle my name on scrap pieces of paper when he gets the chance, because he's always thinking about me.  He should not be embarrassed to call me 'honey, sweety pie, babe,' or any other pet names.  He must be very neat and clean and he must like to wash the dishes and do the laundry.  However, he should never get on my case if I leave things messy around the house.  He must like all my friends and be willing to hang out with me and my friends.  He also should want me to hang out with his friends also.  I am not asking for a perfect guy, but someone who will meet all these requirements and put up with all of my faults without complaint."

Michelle finished reading the list and was momentarily at a loss for words.  "So, what do you think, Michelle?" asked Lola impatiently.  "Pretty good, huh?"

"Well..." Michelle thoughtfully paused for a moment.  "It's a good list, but you just ruled out every single male on this planet!  I mean, no guy could live up to all things you asked!  Besides some of the things on this list are contradictory.  How can a guy be mature, but be doodling your name on scrap paper whenever he gets the chance?"

Lola pondered her friend's critique for a minute then said, "I guess you're right, Michelle.  I guess it's almost impossible guy to have all these traits and maybe I am being a little superficial here.  What do you think I should write down for my ideal match?"

"For starters, Lola, you probably should write down the core values you want your ideal match.  For example, he should believe in God, right?" replied Michelle.

"Yeah, you're right, Michelle.  I should start from scratch and think about this more seriously," Lola sighed.  "Can you pray with me about this?"

     "Of course!" smiled Michelle.

There is no such thing as a perfect guy or a perfect girl, but thank goodness for a perfect God!  If you are seeking a perfect match, do not go about doing so by the standards of the world, but instead ask God for guidance and pray that He will lead to the right person for you!
