52 A Good Witness

Laura felt convicted that she needed to witness to others about Jesus.  However, Laura didn't want to impose her beliefs upon her non-Christian friends.  She wished that there was something she could do, but she wasn't sure what.

One day, new neighbors moved in next to Laura's house.  Holly and her husband Yousef moved to California from back east.  Laura invited Holly and Yousef to dinner with her family and they soon became good friends.  Laura found that she had a lot it common with Holly.  Laura wanted to witness her new friend, but she was afraid of offending her, so Laura kept silent on the matter.

However, Holly and Yousef noticed that Laura's lifestyle was different that most people.  Laura's family did not go out to parties or social functions on Friday nights, but instead spent the evening at home relaxing and reading their Bibles.  Holly and Yousef really enjoyed the healthy food that Laura cooked when Laura invited them over to eat.  Yousef commented that he was surprised how good tofu and chicken could be, since he's normally a red-meat and potatoes kind of guy.

Holly noticed that Laura and her family would dress up every Saturday morning and leave for several hours that come back in the late afternoon.  Holly asked Laura where they went every Saturday, and Laura said that they went to church every Saturday.  Holly and Yousef then became curious and would occasionally ask Laura questions about church.

A few weeks later, Holly and Yousef asked if they could go to church with Laura and her family.  Laura said of course they could go with them.  Holly and Yousef seemed to enjoy the church service and freely mingled with the other church members.  Holly told Laura that Laura's church was nothing like she expected it to be.

Later in the week, Holly told Laura that Yousef had purchased a Bible and they started reading it together every day.  More surprisingly, Holly and Yousef started going to church regularly on their own.

A month later, an evangelistic series headed up by a famous preacher was starting up.  Laura invited Holly and Yousef to attend the series with her.  At the end of the two week series, Holly and Yousef committed their lives to Christ and got baptized.

The church held a celebration that evening and Holly privately thanked Laura for witnessing to Holly and her husband.  Laura was surprised at hearing this and asked Holly when did she witness to her?  Holly hugged Laura and told her that Laura was so different from all of her friends.  Holly and Yousef have always been intrigued that how Laura's family seemed so happy even though they seem to live a simple lifestyle.  Holly and Yousef wanted to know what was their secret.  And thanks to Laura they found out that the secret was living a life in Christ!  Holly hugged Laura tighter and they both started crying.  Laura secretly prayed and thanked God that she was finally able to share the Gospel with a friend, even though she didn't know it at the time.

Jesus said that we are the light of the world.  A light can do no good unless it shines brightly for others to see.  Even if you have no talent in speaking, you can be a witness for Jesus through your actions and in living a Christ-centered life for others to see!
