56 Making a Good Fence
Jared had to build a new fence on his property. Before he could build a fence, he had to put in fence posts and align them properly, so that the fence will be nice and straight. Jared carefully measured out where he would place fifty fence posts. He then dug holes for the fence posts. He poured concrete into the holes and put the fence posts in wet cement.
After a lot of hard work, Jared finally finished putting up the fence posts. As he looked back and reviewed his work, Jared realized that one of the fence posts was misaligned. The other forty nine posts were aligned perfectly with each other. Jared then pondered his options to fix this error in alignment. Jared could realign the other forty nine fence posts to match the one or he could simply realign the one to match the other forty nine. Jared laughed and thought to himself that there was really one viable option. Why would he bother realigning forty nine fence posts to just match the one?
We should not change our beliefs in the Bible over one verse that does not match our understanding. The Bible does not contradict itself - it is in perfect harmony from beginning to end. If we find a verse in the Bible that seems contradictory or difficult, we need to pray and ask for the Holy Spirit to guide us into better understanding!
