59 Revelation in Space
Nelson was an astronaut who grew up in a Christian family. However, Nelson drifted away from the faith and declared that he was an atheist when he was in college. After years of studies and working at NASA, Nelson finally got his chance to go on a space mission.
Over the years, Nelson's friends and family preached to him, but he still refused to believe in God. "Utter foolishness!" Nelson proclaimed everything. "I have no time for supernatural stories! I am a man of science!"
As Nelson's shuttle shot into space, Nelson wondered why his family and friends insisted on believing in a God. He felt that religion was a crutch for the weak-minded. Nelson felt secure in relying solely on reason and science to guide him through life.
However, when Nelson was in outer space and doing his first spacewalk, he looked back down towards earth. The sight of seeing his planet from this vantage point was awe-inspiring. Nelson teared up at the beauty of the blue little world he was looking at. As Nelson looked around him and saw the vastness of the space around him, he started to feel very insignificant. Could all of this really have happened by chance as his science books have claimed?
No, this couldn't have all been due to chance, Nelson thought. At that very moment Nelson remembered his lost faith and started to believe again.
God created all things and you can see His handiwork in nature. Jesus often used nature to illustrate the great truths He wanted to teach His disciples. Take a moment and look at the natural wonders around you. "Consider the lilies in the field" and see what God is trying to teach you!
