61 Clean-up on Aisle 4
"CLEAN-UP ON AISLE 4 PLEASE! CLEAN UP ON AISLE 4!" boomed the manager's voice over the intercome at S-Mart. Kristen sighed and trudged over to aisle 4 with a mop and a bucket. Kristen turned the corner and saw a lady smile apologetically as she was cleaning off her son, who evidently threw up all over the floor.
"Sorry, I told Junior not to eat all those super spicy potato chips," said the lady with a goofy laugh, "but he just wouldn't listen!"
"Don't worry about it, ma'am," replied Kristen, "I'll take care of it. Thank you for shopping at S-Mart!"
As the lady and her son walked away, Kristen stared at the soiled floor in exasperation. Cherry colored vomit with chunks of potato chips on the floor?! They don't pay me enough to deal with this kind of mess! thought Kristen. Argh, this is so gross! No one should have to deal with this!
Kristen winced one more time and commenced with the clean-up. She just couldn't wait until her shift was over, so she could go home.
After a few more agonizing hours, Kristen was able to clock out for the day. She hurried home to her husband Nick and her baby Anthony. Nick stood at the threshold looking meek and apologetic.
"I'm sorry, Kristen," Nick said, "I was feeding Anthony this new watermelon-flavored brand of baby food, but he threw up all over the kitchen!"
"That's all right, honey! I'll take care of it." Kristen went into the kitchen and saw red-colored baby food and vomit all over the floor. Anthony was still in his high chair, looking curiously down at the mess he created.
"Aw, don't worry, Anthony," cooed Kristen, "Mommy will clean your little mess right up!"
Kristen quickly cleaned up the mess without any fuss or complaint. She lovingly wiped Anthony's mouth clean with a napkin and picked him up and hugged him.
"It's okay, Anthony," said Kristen as she gently rocked him in her arms, "You and the floor are all clean now."
There are some things that we would not do even if people paid us. However, for someone we love, we would gladly do those things. Just as a mother would gladly give her life to protect her child, Jesus came down all the way from heaven and took the form of a man and died for our sins because He loves us that much.
