62 Let Me Go
Rhonda had fallen in with the wrong crowd. She was only sixteen, but she thought she knew everything. She was living the high life, drinking alcohol, smoking, and partying all the time. Rhonda felt empowered being bad and rebellious.
However, Rhonda's mother would always stay up late and wait for Rhonda to come home, no matter how late. When Rhonda staggered in home drunk at 3am, her mother was there at the door. Like always they would always argue. Rhonda yelled and cursed at her mother and her mother would yell at her back, asking her when would she wake up and see what she is doing to herself.
It really gnawed on Rhonda that her mother would always stay up for her. Rhonda secretly despised her mother for this. The parents of Rhonda's friends had pretty much given up on them, allowing them to do whatever they want. Rhonda's mother was different, though. She was always waiting, waiting for Rhonda to come home.
When Rhonda came home again late after a house party, she yelled and cried out to her mother who was sitting on the porch, "I hate you! You're always waiting for me! Why don't you just give up on me? The rest of the family has!"
Rhonda braced herself, ready for her mother to yell back at her. However, Rhonda's mother came closer to her and looked straight into her eyes with a loving gaze. That gaze pierced Rhonda to the heart.
"No matter what you say, no matter what you do," said Rhonda's mother tenderly, "you are still my daughter and I love you. No matter how far you have fallen, no matter how much you hurt me, I will always be here waiting for you to come back home."
Rhonda burst into tears and cried in her mother's arms.
No matter how much we have sinned and no matter how far we have fallen, God loves us all so dearly and is waiting for us to come back home to Him.
