71 Flytrap
A fly was buzzing around one sunny day. In the distance, the fly sees other flies dancing on long strings of paper hanging from a backyard patio.
"Hey, that looks fun," said the fly. "I want to join in!"
The fly then flew towards the patio to join the other flies. As the fly flew over a garden, an old spider sitting on a web called out to the fly.
"Son, don't join those other flies," the old spider warned the fly. "It's a trap. You will only find death there. Those other flies are already dead. I have watched many young flies like you go to those strings of paper swaying in the wind and never leave. If you value your life, turn away and don't look back."
The fly scoffed at the old spider's word of caution. "What do you know, old spider?" asked the fly with disdain in his voice. "All you do is sit in your web spinning thread. You don't know anything about doing fun and cool things! I'm going to join the party over there!"
The spider looked at the fly with all eight of his eyes and sighed. "You will regret this. Don't say I didn't warn you..."
The fly zoomed towards the other flies. He landed on one of the strips of paper and danced to his delight. After the fly had his fun, he turned to leave, but found that his feet were stuck! The fly struggled and struggled in desperation, but could not pull himself free. He called to the other flies for help, but no one answered his plea or came to him. Then the fly realized none of his brethren were moving at all. They were all dead. The fly suddenly remembered the spider's words and started to cry. His desire to have fun and be merry cost him his life.
My friends, do not make the little fly's mistake and lust after the things of the world. What seems like fun and excitement may in actuality lead you away from God, much to your own harm. Keep your focus on Jesus and continue to walk in the light!
