75 Those Sad Puppy Eyes

One day I was eating some chicken for lunch in the kitchen and my dog Washu came in and sat down slightly behind me.  I immediately knew my dog wanted to eat some of my chicken, but I sternly told my dog no.  However, my dog didn't leave and simply sat there patiently.  When I turned around to look at my dog, she looked at me with such sad puppy eyes, my resolve waivered.

I ended up giving my dog some of my chicken, which she gulped down greedily then left.  I continued eating my lunch, but ten minutes later, Washu came back into the kitchen and threw up all over the floor!

My brother rushed out of his room when he heard my dog throw up.  He asked me what happened and I explained that I just gave Washu some of my lunch.  My brother then exclaimed that he fed my dog some of his lunch just 15 minutes before I came home.  He too, was beguiled by my dog's sad puppy eyes.

A month later my brother and I took Washu for annual check-up at the veterinarian.  The vet was shocked how fat Washu had gotten in the past year.  He read us the riot act and chastised us severely.  He explained to us that dogs will keep begging for food even after it is full.  We have to be firm and not give the dog any more food, even if it continuously begs.  My brother and I shamefully nodded our heads and we both promised to never again be fooled by those sad puppy eyes.

The lust of the flesh is a powerful force and can never be satisfied.  It has led many people to their own ruin.  Ask God for the strength to resist temptation and never give in!

Why the Week is Seven Days Long

Most of us take the seven-day week for granted. Marvin Hunt explains how it came to be seven days and not six, eight or ten.
