79 A Bump in the Dark

Edwin came home late one night in the winter after a hard day of work.  He quickly closed the door behind him as he entered his house, but soon realized that the room was completely dark.  Edwin couldn't see anything at all.

Edwin briefly thought about waiting for his eyes to adjust in the darkness, but decides he knows exactly where he is going, so he continues forward in the darkness.  It his his house, afterall!  He should know exactly everything is!

Edwin slowly walked forward cautiously, waving his hands in front of him.  After a few steps, he gains some confidence, and waddles more quickly with his hands out in front of him.

Unfortunately, Edwin ran straight into a door that was ajar.  Edwin falls backwards.  He groans on the ground as he rubs the newly formed bump on his head.  Next time, Edwin thinks to himself, he is going to turn on the lights first rather than depend on his own senses.

There may be times where we can feel we can do everything on our own.  However, without the light of Jesus Christ to guide us, we may blindly stumble into dark pits we do not see.  Continue to walk in the light!
