86 The Time is Now

Pastor Earl was giving Bible studies to a group of young adults every week at his home.  After several weeks of lessons, Pastor Earl asked his audience to consider giving their lives to Jesus and that he would ask them next week if they decide they want to commit.

Next week never came for those young adults as a massive earthquake occurred the day before the group was to meet again.  Buildings were leveled to the ground and thousands were killed in the quake.  The destruction and devastation the earthquake wrought was staggering and beyond comprehension.  Though his home crumbled around him, Pastor Earl somehow managed to survive the disaster, but he never saw any of those young adults ever again.

Pastor Earl was wracked with guilt.  He kept thinking and regretting not asking those young adults to make a decision when he was with them.  He wondered about what happened to them for the rest of his life.

From then on, at the end of every Bible study Pastor Earl gave, he always gave people a chance to commit their lives to Jesus right then and there.

We do not know what tomorrow brings, so why wait to commit to Christ?

Christians commonly think that eternal life will begin at Christ’s second coming. However, John Brunt points out that Jesus had a much different idea.
