91 The View from the Top

Kirk Corban is the lead singer of the rock band the Raging Locusts.  All Kirk wanted to do his entire life was become a mega rock star.  He worked hard and played in obscure clubs for years until he and his band hit it big with their song "Crop Killer."  After that song hit #1 on the rock charts, Kirk and his band received all the fame and fortune that they ever desired.  They became millionaires overnight.  All their subsequent albums sold in the millions.  Kirk could get with any supermodel he wanted.  Countless fans screamed Kirk's name every night.  Anything Kirk wanted, whether it be fast cars, jewelry, sex, or drugs, they were all at his fingertips.

Kirk looked down at the city from his penthouse suite in Las Vegas.  Kirk had finally achieved his dream and he was only 25 years old.  The world was his oyster, yet Kirk strangely felt not satisfaction from his accomplishments.  All his life Kirk wanted to make it to the top and live the glitzy and glamorous fast life.  Now that he at the top, the view wasn't as great as he thought it would be.  Kirk slumped down on the balcony railing feeling lonely and depressed.  Although he was at the top, he felt emptiness instead of euphoria.  What do I do now? he thought to himself.  If this is the top, why does it feel like everything is going to be downhill after this?

You can have everything in the world yet still not be satisfied.  Try as you might, physical gratification and indulgences in worldly pleasures can never satisfy spiritual needs.  You can only find true meaning in life through a life in Jesus Christ!
